This is one of the most populated cities on the planet; a set of neighborhoods, every with its own flavor and history. The city has been an urban center for over 500 years: it was the capital of the Aztec empire, and the Zócalo, was the central plaza of ancient México-Tenochtitlán, as it was called then. Looking at the main Cathedral, built on top of and at the expense of the Aztec’s Templo Mayor , one gets a feeling for the contradictions within Mexico.
